Have you thought about what your city will look like in 2030? When you live in one of the fastest growing regions in America, you think about that all the time. Will be be better off or in decline? Will our economy be competitive or fall behind? How about our parks, highways, transit system, schools, etc? So many variables and so much technological disruption. Even more, when your youngest child is scheduled to graduate high school in 2030, you really care what the answers to these questions are!
Our research team at the Foundation for Orlando’s Future (the Orlando Economic Partnership’s foundation), has begun to put together some of the puzzle pieces that will help shape the long-term discussions for our region.
Here are some highlights:
The 7-county region is anticipated to grow to 5.2 million people over the next decade
2. We’ll lead the nation in diversity growth, with 50% of new residents coming from int’l location
3. Seniors will outnumber children, a trend we will see across the nation
4. Our workforce and industry growth will significantly outpace the nation
5. Mobility and affordable housing will continue to be issues of focus
